Access Management

Overview

Access Management is a powerful and intuitive Odoo application designed to give you complete, granular control over your system's security and user interface. Instead of dealing with complex technical configurations, this module provides an easy-to-use interface to restrict what users can see and do within Odoo.

Whether you want to hide a specific menu, make certain fields read-only, remove action buttons, or apply strict record-level security, Access Management allows you to configure it all without any coding knowledge.

📋 Menu & View Rules

Take control of your Odoo navigation.
- Hide Menus: Remove specific menus or sub-menus for selected users.
- Hide Views: Restrict access to Form, List, or Kanban views.
- Multi-Company: Apply menu restrictions across all companies or limit them to specific ones.

📝 Field-Level Security

Control how users interact with data down to the individual field level.
- Invisible: Hide sensitive fields completely.
- Read-Only: Prevent users from modifying specific fields.
- Required: Force users to fill in mandatory information.
- No External Links: Remove the "open" link on relational fields to prevent navigation to other records.

⚙️ Model & Record Rules (Strict CRUD)

Ensure data integrity by controlling record operations.
- Action Restrictions: Prevent users from Creating, Editing, Deleting, or Duplicating records.
- Import/Export: Disable import and export options for specific models.
- Archive: Hide the archive/unarchive option.
- Domain Rules: Filter the exact records a user is allowed to access based on specific conditions (e.g., "User can only see leads assigned to their team").

🔘 Button & Tab Rules

Clean up the interface by hiding unnecessary elements.
- Hide Buttons: Remove action buttons from forms or headers.
- Hide Tabs/Pages: Conceal entire notebook tabs within a form view.
- Hide Kanban Links: Remove clickable links in Kanban cards.

🌍 Global Settings

Apply system-wide restrictions with a single toggle.
- Hide Chatter: Completely hide the chatter history on all records.
- Restrict Chatter Actions: Disable "Send Message", "Log Note", and "Schedule Activity" buttons.
- Global Import/Export: Disable data export and import system-wide.
- Developer Mode: Prevent specific users from activating developer mode.
- Disable Login: Temporarily or permanently block users from logging into the system.

How to Use

1. Creating a Role Template

1. Navigate to Access Studio > Roles.
2. Click Create and provide a Role Name and Code.
3. Define your rules across the different tabs (Menus, Fields, Models, Buttons, Domains).
4. Save the template. It is now ready to be applied to users!

2. Applying Rules to Users

1. Go to the Access Studio dashboard and click Create an Access Rule.
2. Select the user(s) you want to restrict.
3. Option A (Manual): Manually configure the rules in each tab for this specific rule.
4. Option B (Template): Select a Role Template from the dropdown and click Apply Role Template to instantly load predefined rules.

3. Duplicating Rules

Need to create a similar rule? Use the built-in Copy feature on any Access Rule or Role Template to duplicate the entire configuration, saving you time from starting from scratch.
